Twitch’s Chat Replay Lets You View Chat Messages From Past Streams

Twitch has announced the launch of its Chat Replay feature, allowing users to watch recorded streams and highlights in a more complete way, with the stream’s original chat content displayed at the side of the screen.

Now, when watching a past stream or highlight video, the Chat Replay feature will allow users to view the chat messages, subscription notifications, emotes and badges that originally appeared alongside the stream. However, messages which were deleted by moderators due to user time-outs or bans will not appear in replays.

In addition, Chat Replay will support further moderation, as users with permission to moderate channels will be able to delete any inappropriate messages they may have missed during a channel’s original streams.

With this announcement, Twitch said it had already begun saving chat messages from live streams, and chat messages will be added to recorded videos over the coming weeks.
