Pinterest announced Tuesday the addition of movie and recipe rich data to billions of Pins.
Pinterest explained the updates in a blog post:
We’re launching updates to Recipe and Movie Pins, expanding rich data to billions of Pins and making it easier for millions of people to discover entertaining ideas. Recipes and entertainment are top interests among men and women, and with the Oscars around the corner, people are Pinning more than 4 million ideas to celebrate.
For recipe Pins, Pinterest is adding rich data such as ingredients, cooking times and servings to the Pins — doubling the number of recipe Pins in the system to 4 billion. Pinterest notes that nearly 90 percent of Pinners are saving food and drink recipes on mobile.
In the run-up to the Oscars, appetizer Pins have increased 15 percent just this month; appetizers are 3 times more popular this year than last.
Pinterest is also doubling the number of movie Pins, including information such as rating, cast members and reviews.
Pinterest also put together a top-Pinned must-watch films, featuring new blockbusters such as Star Wars: The Force Awakens and classics like The Sound of Music.
