Rovio Updates Original Angry Birds With The Mighty League

Rovio announced the release of The Mighty League update in the original Angry Birds. The update introduces challenge levels to players, which ask them to compete against average level scores by other players.

With this update, players can complete three different Mighty League levels each day, with these levels being drawn from the game’s existing episodes. Users receive three free tickets to complete Mighty League levels each day, and they can purchase additional tickets via in-app purchase.

As part of this update, Rovio partnered with Finnish DJ and music producer Darude, whose song, Sandstorm, has been remixed into the new Mighty League Anthem.

Finally, Angry Birds is no longer a premium game, and instead, it can be downloaded for free.

In a statement, Wilhelm Taht, Rovio’s head of games, commented:

The original Angry Birds has now become a lot more social with The Mighty League. And what better way to update one Finnish classic than with another? Darude’s Sandstorm and the original Angry Birds go together like midnight sun and licorice ice cream.
