LinkedIn Acquires PointDrive

LinkedIn announced its acquisition of business-to-business sales application provider PointDrive.

Vice president of product David Thacker announced the acquisition in a blog post, saying that PointDrive fits LinkedIn’s mission to “connect the world’s professionals.”

Thacker wrote:

PointDrive’s talented team has built an easy-to-use app that allows sales professionals to package, personalize and deliver polished and engaging sales content to their prospects and customers. Through its product, it simplifies the buyer-seller conversation in ways that result in more productivity and generate greater efficiency.

From presentations to images to links and videos, what it has created has quickly gained traction with sales professionals in a wide range of industries. Our very own global sales organization became a PointDrive customer about one year ago, and its product has become one of the most valued tools for our teams.

We’re enthusiastic about the future possibilities of integrating the PointDrive experience with our sales solutions portfolio. We believe that combining our network and product with its content-sharing application will help to better position LinkedIn as a platform where sales professionals can build stronger relationships with customers and prospects.

PointDrive founder and CEO Bill Burnett added in a blog post of his own:

Since our inception, our mission has been to enable salespeople to engage B2B buyers in the most innovative and compelling ways possible. Our vision of differentiated buyer engagement is a natural extension to LinkedIn’s sales solutions goal to connect the world’s buyers and sellers to build relationships. I couldn’t imagine a better partner to carry forward our concept to a global audience.

While we will continue to support our current customers, we have made the decision not to take on any new ones as we focus our efforts on full integration within LinkedIn. There will be plenty of details to share over the next few months as we come together to make buyer-seller relationships even better.

As part of this new chapter, our development and product teams will be relocating to LinkedIn’s San Francisco office, while all customer-facing personnel will be staying in Chicago.
