Several prominent Twitter executives recently left the company, including senior vice president of product Kevin Weil — a key member of the Project Lightning team that developed Moments.
Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey tweeted about the departures: senior vp of engineering Alex Roetter, vp of global media Katie Stanton, vp of human resources Brian “Skip” Schipper and Weil.
Dorsey noted in his tweet that COO Adam Bain and CTO Adam Messinger will take on additional duties until replacements are found.
Dorsey may have also subtly railed against Twitter’s 140-character limit in addressing the departures. Instead of writing a blog post or inducing a tweet-storm, he posted a screenshot of a post:

Roetter didn’t say where he’s going, but said that after 5 1/2 years, it’s time to step back and think about what’s next for himself and his family.

Stanton, who also joined Twitter 5 1/2 years ago, blogged about her departure, noting that she wants to spend more time with her family:
While I’ve poured my heart and soul into Twitter, I decided to resign because it’s time for me to pour more of my energy into my family. Like most working parents, I’ve outsourced the simple things: groceries, laundry and carpools. I’m increasingly faced with the reality that I can’t outsource what’s most precious: time. Life moves fast and I want to enjoy the time with my children before it’s too late. There’s a weird stigma about taking a break to spend time with your family — but really, what could be more important?
Similar to Stanton and Roetter, Weil cited the desire to spend more time with family as the reason for his departure:
