Video streaming app TiZR (pronounced ‘teaser’) has officially launched out of private beta on iOS. The app allows users to share live video broadcasts in private streams for friends and family, or in public streams for the entire community.
TiZR allows users to connect to both their Twitter and Facebook accounts, and create private streams by inviting individual contacts to be the viewers. Users can also broadcast to all TiZR users, and share these streams out to their Facebook or Twitter feeds.
While watching a broadcast, viewers can post likes and comments on streams. Once a broadcast ends, it will be deleted from the platform automatically after 20 minutes, with the app’s ‘As Long As You Like’ feature extending the life of a stream by 10 seconds for every ‘like’ the video receives from the community.
In addition to streaming their own content, users can browse public streams, including the ‘last added’ or ‘most viewed’ recent public stream. Users can also follow others within the app.
In a statement, Jean Michel Reynoird, founder and CEO of TiZR, commented:
Part of the fun on TiZR is the power it gives to the actual network versus just the user. The video goes away quickly enough that if you don’t like it, you’ll never see it again. In order for a broadcast to stay visible, entire networks of people have to interact and connect in real time through the mobile app—which is what sets TiZR apart from other video streaming apps.
TiZR is available to download for free on the iTunes App Store. The app is expected to launch on Android in March. TiZR’s investors include Spinnin’ Records, an Electronic Dance Music (EDM) label, and the app’s early users include DJ and producer David Guetta and DJ Nicky Romero.
