Facebook Eyes Data Center in Odense, Denmark (Report)

What do Facebook and Hans Christian Andersen have in common? According to reports, the answer may be Odense, Denmark.

Danish news site Fynes.dk reported that Facebook has been quietly working since December 2014 to buy a 500,000-square-meter plot in the Tietgenbyen commercial area of the city, which is also the author’s birthplace.

And Reuters added that the data center itself will occupy 184,000 square meters and spur the creation of some 1,200 jobs to build it.

Facebook announced last month that it will build a data center in Los Lunas, N.M., joining four others in the U.S.—Fort Worth, Texas; Altoona, Iowa; Prineville, Ore.; and Forest City, N.C.—as well as facilities in Clonee, Ireland; and Luleå, Sweden.
