Mobile Game Roundup: Gear.Club, Totem Forge and More
If you’re looking for a new mobile game to play, there are lots of new options available for you to try. Here’s a look at some of the mobile games that were released this week.
Gear.Club (Free on iOS) – This racing game from Eden Games allows users to collect, upgrade and customize multiple vehicles, and compete in a variety of races, championships and daily events. During races, vehicles accelerate and brake automatically, and players can tilt their devices to steer. Users also have access to a brake button and a rewind button. The rewind button allows users to rewind a few seconds to play part of a race again. In between races, users can customize and manage their performance shops, as well as upgrade their vehicles with new parts. Upgrades take time to complete. Gear.Club is coming soon to Android, and pre-registration for the Android version is now open.
The Last Door: Season 2 Collector’s Edition (Free on iOS, Android) – This point-and-click adventure game from Phoenix Online Publishing and The Game Kitchen is inspired by the works of Edgar Allen Poe and H.P. Lovecraft, and it is split into four episodes. In the game, players will become Dr. John Wakefield, the psychiatrist of Jeremiah Devitt, the protagonist of the first season of The Last Door. Users will help Wakefield search for Devitt, who has vanished. While playing, users will explore a variety of locations, including mental asylums, abandoned manors and more. While The Last Door: Season 2 Collector’s Edition can be downloaded for free, only the first episode of the game is free to play. Users can unlock the other three episodes via an in-app purchase of $3.99.
Fantasica: Bloodlines (Free on iOS, Android) – This role-playing game (RPG) from DeNA and Silicon Studio is a spinoff of Fantasica, which was released in 2012. Fantasica: Bloodlines is described as a “reimagined version” of the original game. In Fantasica: Bloodlines, players can collect a variety of heroes and take them into battles on a quest to save the world from evil forces. During battles, players can tap on the ground to move their heroes, and their heroes will automatically attack nearby enemies. Each hero has a special ability that players can trigger during battle. In between battles, users can upgrade their characters’ skills and weapons.
Oh…Sir! The Insult Simulator ($1.99 on iOS, Android) – From Gambitious Digital Entertainment and Vile Monarch, this insult dueling game is the successor to the original Oh…Sir!, which was released in late 2015. The game is inspired by the Dead Parrot sketch from Monty Python’s Flying Circus, and it allows users to create verbal insults to attack their opponents. The game allows users to complete single-player challenges, as well as play against other users in local and online multiplayer games. The game includes six characters to choose from, and four conflict scenarios.
Toca Life: Farm ($2.99 on iOS, Android, Amazon) – This children’s game from Toca Boca allows users to explore four locations (a barn, a house, a field and a store) and complete activities such as farming crops, feeding animals and playing music. Users can interact with 29 characters as they play. Toca Life: Farm does not include set levels or rules, so children can play as they’d like. In addition, the game does not include in-app purchases or third-party advertising.
Swift Plane (Free on iOS, Android) – This endless flying game from Mustplay Games challenges users to fly as long as possible while avoiding obstacles such as mountains, trees and blimps. In each game, the plane flies automatically, and players can swipe left, right, up and down to avoid obstacles. Users can collect currency as they play, which can be used to unlock new planes and gameplay environments. Users can also receive free currency by completing in-game achievements.
AdventureQuest 3D (Free on iOS, Android) – This massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) from Artix Entertainment allows users to create characters in multiple classes, with each class having special abilities. Users can explore a variety of environments and complete dungeons and quests either alone or with other players.
Totem Forge ($2.99 on iOS) – This endless match-three puzzle game from Exaltrix challenges users to destroy colored blocks at the top of the screen by firing new blocks onto the board from a deck of blocks at the bottom of the screen. When users create groups of three touching blocks of the same color, the blocks are removed from the board. Each time a user fires a block onto the board that doesn’t create a match, an additional row of blocks is added to the board from the top of the screen, and the existing block columns shift downward. Players lose a point when they allow a block column to reach the bottom of the screen and no new row can be added to the top. Gamers have five points, and when they lose all five, the game ends. It’s worth noting, players can regain lost points by continuing to survive after they’ve lost them. Gamers have access to power-ups that can help them while they play. For instance, a magnet can pull the top block from a column into the player’s deck.
