Social gifting app Whilo (short for “What I Love”) officially launched on iOS. The app allows users to create gift registries and wish lists that can be shared with friends and family.
With Whilo, users can create multiple gift registries and wish lists based on different events or themes. That is, a user could create one wish list for fashion and accessory items, and another list for home decor items, as examples.
Users can add items to their wish lists by browsing trending and featured tabs, and by searching for items within the app. The trending tab features a list of trending products based on what other users are “saving, sharing and engaging with the most,” while the featured tab contains lists of items curated by Whilo editors and other influencers.
In terms of searching for items, if a user can’t find the right item with an in-app search, they can also manually add items to their lists by searching for them in the app’s web browser.
As a social app, users can connect with their friends and family within the app to share their wish lists. When an item has been purchased from a list, other viewers will see that the item has been purchased, so they can avoid buying duplicate items.
Finally, the app supports birthday reminders, so users can receive alerts when their friends’ birthdays are approaching.
In a statement, Karina Calvert-Jones, co-founder of Whilo, commented:
If Facebook, Pinterest and Amazon had a baby, they’d have Whilo! Whilo takes the guesswork out of gifting and ensures users give (and get!) the perfect gift, every time, for any occasion.
Whilo is available to download for free on the iTunes App Store. Whilo is also available in the Chrome Web Store, and it can also be used in browsers.
