Need a Lyft? New Transportation Option for Facebook Messenger

Move over, Uber: It’s time to share some spots in the Facebook Messenger parking lot with fellow ride-sharing application Lyft.

Facebook vice president of messaging products David Marcus announced in a Facebook post Monday that Lyft has joined Uber as a transportation option on the social network’s messaging app.

Marcus wrote:

We first launched transportation on Messenger a few months ago, and today we’re adding another option for you to order a ride with the addition of Lyft. Wherever you’re going and whatever you’re up to, you can get to your destination faster without leaving Messenger. All you have to do is tap on an address in a conversation or select the car icon in an existing Messenger conversation to request a ride, receive updates on your driver’s status and notify your friends. With the ability to request, track and pay for a ride in Messenger, we’re making transportation as simple as sending a message.

Readers: Have you ever arranged an Uber ride via Messenger?
