Google Launches Crowdsource, Allows Users to Help Improve Translate, Maps

Google launched its Crowdsource application on Android. According to multiple published reports, the app allows users to complete short tasks to help improve the quality of Google’s services, like Google Translate and Google Maps.

With Crowdsource, users can complete tasks related to handwriting recognition, image transcription and text translation. As an example, one task may present users with a picture of one or more words, and they will be asked to type the word(s) they see.

The app’s description on Google Play reads:

Do quick, simple tasks that have a huge impact—like improve the quality of Google Translate in your language, or of Google Maps in your country, etc. Each microtask takes no more than five seconds to 10 seconds, so knock away a few the next time you find yourself with a few moments to kill—be it while waiting in line at the grocery store or on the train ride home. Every time you use it, you know that you’ve made the internet a better place for your community.

The Crowdsource app is available to download for free on Google Play.
