Twitter will be spending a lot of time on red carpets in 2017, following an agreement with Dick Clark Productions.
The social network will host exclusive livestreams from:
- The 52nd Academy of Country Music Awards April 2
- The Billboard Music Awards May 21
- The American Music Awards in November
Twitter will also livestream the Seventh Annual Streamy Awards this fall.
Dick Clark Productions and Twitter said the livestreams will include advertising packages with TV-style ad spots, and those packages will also include opportunities for advertisers and sponsors to promote original clips produced by Dick Clark Productions.
Twitter chief operating officer Anthony Noto said in a release:
Twitter is where conversations about award shows happen live. After a successful collaboration with the Hollywood Foreign Press Association and Dick Clark Productions on our exclusive Golden Globes red carpet show, we’re excited to partner again with DCP to bring more live programming to Twitter.
Dick Clark Productions president Mike Mahan added:
We are thrilled with the success of the Golden Globes red carpet preshow and look forward to working with Twitter on additional shows. By offering a unique online viewing opportunity, we are able to expand the audience experience and generate deeper, more compelling conversation.
