Twitter quietly boosted the maximum size for GIFs to 15 megabytes from 5 MB, but only via the web.
Several readers of The Verge noticed the change Monday, and CNET pointed out the following update to Twitter’s Help Center:
Photos can be up to 5 MB; animated GIFs can be up to 5 MB on mobile and up to 15 MB on web.
Nick Statt of The Verge pointed out that the new maximum GIF size has not yet been extended to TweetDeck.
