Facebook VP Arrested in Brazil

Facebook’s vice president of Latin America Diego Dzodan was arrested in Sao Paulo, AP reported.

According to AP, a judge in Brazil’s northeastern state of Sergipe ordered the arrest due to the social network’s failure to comply with a judicial order requesting information as part of a “secret investigation” involving organized crime and drug trafficking.

AP added that Facebook-owned messaging application WhatsApp was blocked in Brazil in December for failure to surrender user information to law enforcement, and Globo reported that Dzodan’s arrest is related to that WhatsApp user data.
