At a press event Monday, Apple unveiled the iPhone SE, its newest four-inch iPhone.
The iPhone SE features the same 64-bit A9 chip found in the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus. Compared with the iPhone 5S, Apple said the iPhone SE has a two times faster CPU and three times faster GPU performance, as well as better battery life.
The new iPhone features a 12-megapixel iSight camera, including Focus Pixel technology for fast focusing, and it will support capturing Live Photos. In addition, the iPhone SE supports Retina Flash for taking better selfies with the front-facing camera in low light environments.
The iPhone SE will be available in space gray, silver, gold and rose gold in 16-gigabyte and 64GB models, starting at $399. Users in select territories can begin ordering the iPhone SE March 24, with the phone launching March 31.
In addition, Apple unveiled the new 9.7-inch iPad Pro. In a press release, Philip Schiller, senior vice president of worldwide marketing at Apple, commented on the device:
iPad Pro is a new generation of iPad that is indispensable and immersive, enabling people to be more productive and more creative. It’s incredibly fast, extremely portable and completely natural to use with your fingers, Apple Pencil and Smart Keyboard. And now it comes in two sizes.
The 9.7-inch iPad Pro has a new Retina display with True Tone technology, four-speaker audio system, blazing fast A9X chip, 12-megapixel iSight camera, 5-megapixel FaceTime HD camera, faster wireless, and support for Apple Pencil and Smart Keyboard. It is the ultimate upgrade for existing iPad users and replacement for PC users.
The 9.7-inch iPad Pro will be available in space gray, silver, gold and rose gold, starting at $599 for the 32GB WiFi model and $729 for the 32GB WiFi and cellular model. The new iPad Pro will be available to order in select territories beginning March 24, and it will launch March 31.
