2K and GameStop have announced the release of WWE SuperToken in GameStop’s retail locations around the U.S. The collectible tokens give users in-game content within 2K’s mobile collectible card game, WWE SuperCard.
This release allows players to collect 10 limited-edition, real-world tokens featuring WWE Superstars and Divas including John Cena, Brock Lesnar, Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose and Paige. Each token costs $6.99 and includes three cards for the WWE SuperCard app: an Ultra Rare card of the token’s Superstar or Diva, and two Rare mystery cards. Each token has a “unique distribution quantity,” so some are rarer than others.
Once players purchase a token and activate its rewards within the mobile game, the token can be activated up to three additional times by other players. These players will receive a Super Rare card of the token’s Superstar or Diva.
Gamers on iOS and Android can activate their tokens by scanning a QR code included with the token, using the new QR code scanner added to the WWE SuperCard app. Users with NFC-enabled technology for Android can also tap their tokens against their device to access their cards.
In a statement, Eric Bright, senior director of merchandising at GameStop, commented:
WWE has some of the most spirited fans out there, and their passion for their favorite WWE Superstars and Divas is amplified though the power of video games such as WWE SuperCard. Having an exclusive partnership with 2K to offer WWE SuperToken in our more than 4,000 GameStop stores nationwide allows for gamers everywhere to discover and experience new limited edition content like never before.
WWE SuperCard is available to download for free on the iTunes App Store, Google Play and the Amazon Appstore.
