Facebook Adds Slideshow Feature to iOS App

Facebook Monday introduced a feature for users of its flagship iOS application, Slideshow, not to be confused with the ad unit of the same name that debuted last October.

The social network said in an email to SocialTimes that the Slideshow feature originated in its stand-alone Moments app, and testing in the main Facebook app has been ongoing since December.

As its name suggests, Slideshow enables users to combine multiple photos and videos into a slideshow, complete with music and a customized title, and the feature will be rolled out to iOS app users worldwide this week, with new themes and music to be added “over time.”

Facebook also shared the following instructions for users looking to create their own Slideshows:

If you’ve taken more than five photos or videos in the past 24 hours, Facebook will give you a preview of a pre-made slideshow at the top of your News Feed in the “What’s on your mind” box when you open the Facebook app. You can customize and edit your Slideshow by removing new images and videos, selecting one of 10 themes with unique visuals and music, adding a title and tagging your friends.

If you see someone else’s Slideshow in your News Feed, Facebook may give you the option to “Try It,” which will let you select five or more images and videos of your own to create a Slideshow.

The themes you can choose from are: Inspired, Nostalgic, Playful, Night Out, Birthday, Epic, Thankful, Tropical, Bollywood and Amped.
