Snapchat Lets You Face Swap With Images From Your Camera Roll on iOS

Snapchat launched a new version of its iOS application, allowing users to Face Swap with photos from their camera rolls. This update follows the launch of 3-D stickers on iOS earlier this month.

The Face Swap feature already allowed users to swap their face with another person (or object) on the screen, but now users can also swap their face with one from a picture. This feature is available as a new filter when taking a Snap.

The new Face Swap filter is found at the end of the list of filters, next to the original Face Swap option. Selecting the new filter allows users to browse faces pulled from their pictures by the app, and users can preview multiple Face Swaps before selecting one to share. In addition to “real” faces, the app may pull in faces from inanimate objects, like statues.

Elsewhere, this update removed paid replays from the service, which previously allowed users to purchase packs of replays they could use to replay Snaps. With this update, users can now replay any Snap once for free. Snapchat said users with purchased replays on their accounts can still use them to replay a Snap “once more.”

The new version of Snapchat is available to download for free on the iTunes App Store.
