Twitter without a retweet button? It’s actually being tested.
Twitter confirmed to Ingrid Lunden and Jon Russell of TechCrunch that it is testing a tweak to its flagship mobile application in which the retweet button and reply arrow are replaced with a circular icon that brings up sharing options and a speech bubble.
The social network told Lunden and Russell it was studying how the design tweak changed user behavior, adding:
We’re testing new icons on tweets to evaluate how this impacts the way that people use Twitter.
Lunden and Russell also shared the tweet embedded below from Twitter user @lasersushi, which displays the available options in the new sharing options menu being tested: retweet, quote tweet, send by direct message and share tweet. That Twitter user is based in Germany, hence the German-language choices.
So am I the only one with the new buttons on twitter, or…? http://pic.twitter.com/hqSIgUxupX
