Twitter continued to hemorrhage top executives, with Tuesday bringing the departures of chief technology officer Adam Messinger and vice president of product Josh McFarland.
Messinger did not reveal his future plans, saying in a tweet that he will “take some time off.” He had been with Twitter since 2011.
After 5 years I’ve decided to leave Twitter and take some time off. Grateful to @jack for the opportunity and to my team for shipping.

McFarland joined Twitter when it acquired his ad technology startup, TellApart, in April 2015.
He is heading to Greylock Partners, where he will be an investment partner. McFarland also announced his departure in a tweet.

Greylock added in an announcement that McFarland will join the firm in the first quarter of 2017, saying of his appointment:
From his work at TellApart, Twitter and Google, he has personally experienced the stages of building an enduring business– from pre-product market fit, through early scaling, through growth stage, through operating inside of a mature, public company. He has grown from a product manager who oversaw teams of four or five people early in his career at Google to a founder and CEO and operating executive leading teams of 400 to 500 people. He’s a product person first, and he worked hard to master the sales and marketing side of the business. He’s an entrepreneur who also evolved to be an excellent operational leader.
