Twitter finally found a replacement for former head of consumer product Jeff Seibert, who vacated the position in June, but the social network had to acquire a company in the process.
CEO Jack Dorsey announced via tweet that Twitter acquired startup application developer Yes, and that Yes founder Keith Coleman is the social network’s new vice president of product.
A Twitter spokesperson told Kia Kokalitcheva of Fortune that Coleman will report to chief technology officer Adam Messinger, while the rest of the Yes team will be added to various product and engineering teams at the social network.
Yes! Keith and team are joining Twitter to help lead and strengthen our service! https://t.co/5aFouFxTsh

I’m excited to announce our team is joining Twitter. Can't wait to work with @jack, @adam_messinger & team! First day is Monday – let's go!

Coleman will be Twitter’s fifth head of consumer product since 2014. Seibert stepped down from the post in June and returned to his former role of running developer product suite Fabric.
Yes is the developer of two apps: Frenzy, which provides a quick way for users to make plans with their friends; and WYD, short for “What You Doing,” which allows users to share photo and video status updates with emoji and text.
However, both apps will be shut down, according to a note on Yes’ website:
Today, we’re excited to announce a new chapter in the journey: Yes will be joining Twitter! Our team has always admired Twitter, a product that brings the whole world closer. From elections to revolutions, Olympics to arts, it connects people across the globe around the events that are happening right now. Twitter also speaks to our love of working at a global scale. Prior to forming Yes, our team spent their careers building products like Gmail, Android, PayPal and others that serve hundreds of millions of people, and we’re excited to bring our efforts to connecting the world at a huge scale.
What does this mean for our apps? In the coming weeks, we’ll be shutting down our apps so that we can focus entirely on our new efforts. We are sad to see them go, but excited about the future . Thank you to all of you who have loved them as much as we have and contributed along the way!
