Snapchat Adds Group Chat, Two New Creative Tools

Snapchat announced three new features Tuesday: Groups, Scissors and Paintbrush.

Groups allow Snapchat users to create group chats with up to 16 friends, and these group chats are deleted by default after 24 hours. Snaps within Groups can be opened and replayed once by each participant, and if they are not opened, they, too, disappear after 24 hours.

Snapchat added in a blog post:

Groups can be created while sending a Snap, or when you’re making a new chat. When your friends are present in a group chat, we show their name at the bottom of the chat. Simply tap their name to start a 1:1 chat, and then easily return to the Group in one swipe. We call this Quick Chat, and it’s the fastest way to keep the conversation going with one friend without spamming the entire Group.

Scissors allows users to cut out part of a Snap in the preview screen and turn it into a sticker.

And users can apply Paintbrush to Snaps in Memories to turn them into “artistic masterpieces.”
