Square Enix, gumi Bringing Final Fantasy Brave Exvius to the West

Following the game’s release in Japan, Square Enix and gumi announced that Final Fantasy Brave Exvius will launch on mobile in Western territories later this year. The game has surpassed 6 million players in Japan.

Final Fantasy Brave Exvius is a role-playing game following two knights of the kingdom of Grandshelt, as well as a young girl who suddenly appears before them, on a quest to find a “highly sought after crystal.” The game will feature turn-based battles, and it will allow players to explore a variety of dungeons as they search for items, collect money, uncover hidden paths and more.

In addition to introducing players to new characters, the game will feature appearances by characters from past Final Fantasy games, including the Warrior of Light, Cecil, Vivi and Terra.

Square Enix and gumi Inc. released a preview of the game’s story:

Visions—

The hopes and dreams of

legendary warriors given life.

Lapis—

A world of crystals and the visions

that slumber within.

Harnessing the power of the crystals,

mankind prospered, nations flourished.

But just as day gives way to night,

that era of peace proved but a fleeting

illusion.

Now, as their world stands on the precipice

of ruin, two young knights summon visions

to their side as they strike out on a journey

to chase the shadows.

So begins a new tale of crystals,

and the heroes who would save them…

Final Fantasy Brave Exvius is expected to launch for free on iOS and Android this summer. The game will launch in six languages: English, German, French, Spanish, Chinese (traditional) and Korean.

Interested players can now pre-register for the game to receive in-game items once the game launches.
