Twitter Launches Message Button to Make Sharing Tweets Easier

Twitter has updated its iOS and Android app, introducing a new message button which makes it easier for users to share tweets in direct messages. With this update, users can tap the envelope icon underneath a tweet to share the tweet in a private conversation.

Twitter said the number of direct messages sent grew over 60 percent in 2015, and the number of privately shared tweets grew 200 percent in the second half of last year.

This update is part of Twitter’s goal of ‘making conversations richer in direct messages.’ Previous updates have introduced group direct messaging, support for longer direct messages and more.

The Message button is now available in the Twitter app on iOS and Android.
