Hipster Whale and Yodo1 announced the addition of Wi-Fi-enabled multiplayer to Crossy Road on Android. The update allows up to four users to play together in real-time in a mix of competitive and cooperative gameplay.
In each game, all four players earn separate scores, which contribute to an overall team score. While players are competing to earn the highest score among their group, they can also revive fallen players when they die to keep the game going.
To be specific, when a player dies, they will appear down the path, attached to a floating balloon. When another player reaches the lane containing this balloon, the fallen player will respawn by falling onto the square the balloon is above. Gamers can revive fallen teammates until all four players die.
Meanwhile, players can also bump into other users during games, and with enough hits, they may be able to knock another player into traffic or water. As of right now, there are no coins in this multiplayer version of Crossy Road, although Yodo1 told SocialTimes they will likely be added in a future update.
Crossy Road is available to download for free on Google Play. This multiplayer update is expected to launch on iOS in May.
