Social networks were ablaze Tuesday with the stunning news of Angelina Jolie filing for divorce from Brad Pitt, and social intelligence platform Synthesio provided Brangelina statistics galore.
According to Synthesio, the top hashtags used to discuss the split were:
- #angelinajolie
- #bradpitt
- #brangelina
- #divorce
- #breaking
Jolie edged Pitt in terms of mentions, 44.24 percent to 41.52 percent, with Brangelina accounting for 14.24 percent of mentions.
In terms of sentiment, 9.54 percent of total mentions were negative, compared with 5.09 percent that were positive. Mentions of Jolie were 8.99 percent negative and 4.88 percent positive, while mentions of Pitt were 9.22 percent negative and 4.29 percent positive and mentions of the divorce were 12.8 percent negative and 5.78 percent positive.
Breaking it down by media type, sentiment was:
- Twitter: 9.42 percent negative, 4.61 percent positive
- Facebook: 15.35 percent negative, 12.72 percent positive
- Blogs: 7.94 percent negative, 5 percent positive
- Online news outlets: 9.25 percent negative, 6.2 percent positive
- Instagram: 14.77 percent negative, 17.17 percent positive
People turned to the following platforms to discuss the Brangelina split:
- Twitter: 77.44 percent of all online mentions
- Online news outlets: 9.99 percent
- Blogs: 3.31 percent
- Facebook: 2.52 percent
- Instagram: Less than 1 percent
Synthesio said 54 percent of people posting about the divorce were female and 46 percent were male, adding that the top five languages for posts were:
- English: 56.5 percent
- Spanish: 14.4 percent
- Japanese: 7.2 percent
- Portuguese: 4.1 percent
- Turkish: 3.1 percent
