Periscope released an update for its website, which puts a large focus on curated channels.
With this update, users can browse featured curated channels based on specific topics or events, such as “Police, Race and America” or “NFL: Road to Super Bowl 51.” Users can also browse curated channels based on hashtags such as #Food, #Music or #Talk, among others.
In a blog post, Periscope said channels based on hashtags will be updated in real-time when someone in the community goes live with a broadcast.
In addition, the Twitter-owned livestreaming application said it will “continue to highlight breaking news events, such as the Charlotte protests, the coup in Turkey and #NoBillNoBreak, in stand-alone, featured channels.”
Finally, in addition to browsing videos in curated channels, users can also search for videos directly using keywords.
Periscope commented on its curated channels:
We realize that channels may not always represent the full spectrum of live content on a specific topic, but we hope that you’ll find diverse perspectives by exploring the content in each channel. Through this, you may even be inspired to follow new broadcasters and topics, further broadening your experience on the platform. If what’s shown in Periscope channels isn’t what you were looking for, you can also explore what the world is seeing by searching with keywords on Periscope.tv.
