The addition of live streaming to its mobile application was YouTube’s big news from VidCon in Anaheim, Calif., but the Google-owned video site made several other announcements.
Vice president of operations Sebastien Missoffe announced in a blog post that YouTube has:
- Increased creator support by 100 times so that every creator that joins YouTube’s Partner Program can receive answers via email from “a real person.”
- Revamped its Creator Hub, which is available in 23 languages.
- Launched multilevel benefits program YouTube for Creators, which provides benefits at zero, 1,000 and 10,000 subscribers.
- Revised its comment control to allow users to delegate moderation and allow people they trust to help manage comments.
- Announced that it is live-testing a new solution that allows videos to continue earning revenue while Content ID claims are being disputed, which Missoffe said YouTube expects “to launch to 100 percent of partners in the coming months.”
- Making changes to how penalties are applied when content creators receive strikes.
Missoffe wrote:
The creator community isn’t just big, it’s strong. Think of it this way: More than 1,000 creators cross the 1,000-subscriber mark every single day. Crazy, right? And while each of you is driving your own success, we do our best at YouTube to support and celebrate your talent and self-expression with new tools, support options, workshops, production access at the Spaces, in-person events, Play Button awards and the list goes on.
