Pixowl launched The Sandbox Evolution, the sequel to its original world-building game, The Sandbox. The Sandbox Evolution allows users to create pixel-art worlds by manipulating more than 160 elements, such as water, fire, electricity and acid.
In The Sandbox Evolution, users create worlds by dragging their fingers to drop element pixels into environments. For instance, users can drop mud pixels to create fertile ground, and then drop tree seeds to plant trees on the land. Gamers can also add animals, humans, buildings and electrical elements to their environments. This includes the ability to create electrical machines that utilize levers, batteries, sensors and more.
In addition, users can also manipulate the time of day, humidity level and temperature in their worlds, which may cause reactions to occur. For instance, users can evaporate bodies of water into steam by raising the temperature.
While the game includes a sandbox-style creation mode, which allows players to create worlds that can be shared in the game’s online gallery, users can also complete campaign missions and daily quests to earn mana, the game’s main currency. Mana can be spent to unlock many elements for future use, although some elements can only be unlocked using premium currency. Alternatively, players can instantly unlock all of the game’s elements via a one-time in-app purchase.
In a statement, Arthur Madrid, CEO of Pixowl, commented:
The Sandbox Evolution ignites the imagination and empowers the player to become the maker. With a universal retro style, fantastical elements and a game-maker feature, this new Sandbox is an engaging platform that appeals to world builder fans of all ages.
The Sandbox Evolution is available to download for free on the iTunes App Store and Google Play.
