U.K.-based start-up Showzee has announced the launch of its new iPhone app, which allows users to create and share ‘stories’ relating to their interests and experiences. The photo and video sharing app allows users to combine up to 10 photos and videos in each ‘Showzee,’ which can then be shared with others.
With Showzee, users can select photos and videos from their camera roll, and can give each slide a text description before sharing the collection. Users are asked to place their Showzees into categories, like celebrities, culture or nature (as examples), and can make their posts public or private. Users can also add tags and a location to their posts before sharing them.
When viewing posts, users can search for specific topics or browse overall categories (as well as trending content), and can share comments and ‘sparks,’ or likes, on posts. Users can also repost content to their own feed (think a retweet on Twitter) and can follow other users to see their posts in their feed going forward.
While each Showzee is represented by a single image on the feed, users can tap and hold on the image to preview the other slides in the group, and can tap to enter the full Showzee to view the full images and any text descriptions.
In a statement, Marlon Gruss, co-founder & CEO of Showzee, commented:
Often a single photo on Instagram isn’t enough to tell the full story or give context, and long-form publishing on sites like Medium can be time-consuming. With Showzee, we wanted to create a simple and fast way for people to capture their interests and experiences and share them with other like-minded people.
Showzee is available to download for free on the iTunes App Store. In future updates, Showzee will introduce the ability for users to add their favorite Showzees to lists for other users to browse, and will implement a conversation feature, allowing users to chat about trending topics in the app.
