Mobile Game Roundup: RYB, A Tiny Game of Pong and More
As we head into another weekend, there are plenty of new mobile games to try, including Kendall & Kylie, the latest celebrity mobile game from Glu Mobile. The lifestyle simulation game allows players to customize their character, who will become a social media star while interacting with Kendall and Kylie Jenner.
In addition, Office Create launched its newest Cooking Mama title this week: Cooking Mama Let’s Cook Puzzle. The fast-paced puzzle game challenges players to tap on food symbols to create dishes and feed hungry guests.
If you’re looking for a different game to try, here’s a look at some of the additional games which released this week.
RYB ($2.99 on iOS) – This color-themed logic puzzle game from FLEB challenges players to complete puzzles by changing the colors of shapes to fit changing rules. Players are presented with information like arrows and dots, and must use these to determine which color to change each shape. Players can make a few mistakes before the current shape resets and forces them to try again.
Dawn of Gods (Free on iOS, Android) – This base-building combat game from Aeria Games allows players to build a base and collect over 150 gods from Greek, Norse and Egyptian mythology. Each god has a skill which can be used in battle, and gods can level up and grow stronger over time. Gamers can play in six different battle modes, including a player-vs-player Raid mode and a single-player Conquest mode, which sees players capture cities on the world map to earn rewards.
Blackwell 5: Epiphany ($3.99 on iOS) – Blackwell 5: Epiphany is the fifth and final chapter in the Blackwell series from Wadjet Eye Games. The point-and-click adventure game follows Rosa Blackwell and her ghost companion Joey as they face a ‘malevolent force’ which tears souls apart. Players can purchase the installment on its own, or purchase all five games in the Blackwell series in a bundle for $14.99.
Stack (Free on iOS, Android) – From Ketchapp and KCHLab, this endless survival game challenges players to tap at the right time to stack blocks as high as possible. When players tap at the wrong time, and the new block doesn’t perfectly line up with the tower underneath, part of the shape is cut off, making the tower narrower for the next block. The tower becomes thinner as players continue to tap at the wrong times, but gamers can make the tower wider again by tapping at the exact right time multiple times in a row. Games end when players completely miss the tower with their next block.
War is Peace: Card Defense (Free on iOS) – From HeroCraft, War is Peace: Card Defense mixes elements from real-time strategy and collectible card games. In each battle, players are challenged to defeat the enemy by playing cards to help their units. The game includes 54 battle cards for players to collect. Gamers can open booster packs and edit their deck between battles.
Look Out: Traffic Rush (Free on iOS) – This endless driving game from The App Ward and Shapes Workshop challenges players to avoid oncoming traffic for as long as possible without crashing. Players swipe to move between lanes, and can collect power-ups which increase their vehicle’s size, making it invincible for a few seconds. Gamers can also collect coins as they race, and can spend these coins on new vehicles. Players will also collect a separate ‘parts’ currency as they play, and can spend parts on upgrades for their vehicles.
The Little Prince: Bubble Pop Journey (Free on iOS, Android) – This bubble shooter from Genera Games, in partnership with ON Entertainment and Paramount Pictures France, is based on The Little Prince film, and challenges players to complete levels by shooting bubbles at bubble formations to create groups of three or more matching bubbles. The game offers more than 150 levels, and includes power-ups which can help players clear stages.
Snowboarding The Fourth Phase (Free on iOS, Android) – This snowboarding game from Red Bull Media House is inspired by the upcoming film The Fourth Phase. The game offers three gameplay modes, including a Career mode, a Quick Run mode and a Contest mode. Players can complete missions as they play, and will collect new gear, like clothing and snowboards, over time.
Tap the Road (Free on iOS) – From Wildsnake Software, this endless survival game challenges players to drive as far as possible along broken pieces of road while escaping the wave behind them. Players can rapidly tap on the screen to speed up, and can tap on different lanes to move their car in order to avoid gaps in the road. Players can collect coins as they play, and spend these coins on new cars.
A Tiny Game of Pong (Free on Apple Watch) – This Apple Watch game from developer Matt Wiechec allows gamers to play the classic game of Pong using the Digital Crown on their Apple Watch to control the movement of their paddle as the ball bounces. The game is free for a limited time, with this free download including the game’s endless arcade mode. Gamers can unlock an additional ‘classic’ game mode for $0.99, which allows them to compete against AI opponents in ‘first to three’ matches. The game offers multiple color themes, so gamers can match the color of the game to the color of their Apple Watch band.
In addition to these new releases, here are some of the previously released games which have come to new platforms.
